Page Summary

If you want to reach a destination, you must first know where you are.

One of the first steps in The Reasonables' Adventure into Consciousness is to examine where humans are in relation to the rest of the universe --  to understand the basic facts of Earth life  -- to understand that much of what has been told to us as if it were  "the truth about reality"  simply does not stand up to examination when tested against the available evidence --  to understand that much of what has been given to us as "The Truth" is actually just someone else's "beliefs about reality."

Because our job is to wake people° up, the N.V.P. team cannot pull  its punches.   Even when when what we have to say is painful or unpopular, we still  must speaks the truth, plain and simple.   If we push your buttons and upset you, please check the Pushed Your Buttons° page before you decide to leave.

Anyone who becomes offended also  needs to understand:  1)   it's wakeup time,   2)   Life is not what we've been led to believe it is by those who claim to know!°  , and 3)  that you are, in effect, being lied to and used for ungodly purposes.°    You also need to be aware of the heavy price you pay for continuing to walk around as a helpless victim.

As an alternative, the N.V.P. team invites you to:   1)  learn how the conscious or accidental use of the universal laws° affects and controls your life,  2)  examine much previously ignored or distorted evidence,° and 3)  to walk with us as we take an enlightened and open-minded look:   a) into religion in general,°    b)  into Christian social structure,  and c)  into  the teachings of Jesus.°

(Additional references:   A fresh Look into the Bible°   and   The Quintessential Jesus.°)   As one of the beginning steps, please review the concepts listed below.

The survival of a species, including humans, is dependent upon its ability to adapt to changes in its environment.   With regard to the survival of non-human species, the causes of these changes are outside of their control.

Two major factors are relevant for humans:  1)   to adapt to the changes, and 2) to  acknowledge that, collectively, we  are causing drastic changes in our environment, most of which have not yet shown up in their full-blown effects.   Because several major social, political, economic, religious, and environmental changes are presently underway on planet Earth, we  must adapt to these changes.   Technically, this is called behavior modification.   Because behavior is dictated and controlled by beliefs, looking at our collective and individual beliefs and values is vital to our survival.

Whether or not we like or want  these coming changes is irrelevant.   Our well-being, and even our lives depends upon our ability to prepare for and to adapt to the coming changes.    It's also important that we examine the beliefs that dictate our personal behavior.   It's particularly important for us to examine what we learned when we were too young to question the validity of what we were being taught.

In order to survive at any acceptable level of well-being,  we all have to take into account the fact that life is not what we've been led to believe it is by those who claim to know.   Stop and think about this for a moment:     Life is not what we've been led to believe it is by those who claim to know!°

Our future  depends upon our willingness to examine your present beliefs, including your religious beliefs -- upon our ability to examine all  the evidence, including any evidence that challenges our cherished beliefs,  and upon our capacity to act in harmony with what the evidence indicates is survival behavior.

Those who choose not to adjust, change, and adapt,  are very likely going to be among the missing when the chaos and confusion subside.   This includes those who  believe that " The Rapture"  is their escape hatch.   The evidence points strongly to the conclusion that the rapture is a false story.       (Ref. 1:  The Rapture°     (Ref. 2:   The Price of Ignorance° )

.

Know the Truth:   "Know the truth and the truth will not only set you free,"  it will also offer you ways to deal with the major social, political, economic, religious, and environmental changes are presently underway.

The N.V.P. Team invites you to examine the basic factors of life in the sections below on this page  --  to examine the evidence offered as part of the Finding God By Faith and by Reason Project°  --  to examine any of several other  pages about God, religion, fundamental Christianity,  church state relations,  and the like.°   Readers might note that the N.V.P. Team presently has about nine-hundred web pages available on line.  See the Index List.°   and our Truth Challenge.°

As you examine our website pages, you'll also come across  numerous suggested behavior modifications that you may find helpful.    Your job is, first,  to decide whether of not to examine and study our website pages and second, to decide what to do (or not do) with your new knowledge.   Below, you'll find some basic facts of life that the wise take note of:

.

.

.

Three Variations of "The Truth"

.

Absolute Truths

Evidentiary Truths   /  The Truest Truths

Faith-based Truths

.

The truth comes in all shapes and sizes.   For ease of discussion, this document examines "the truth"  from three major perspectives:   1)  what actually is the truth, 2)  what the evidence indicates as most likely the truth, and 3)  beliefs about the truth.

.

Absolute Truths:

The more humans study our amazing universe, the more obvious it becomes that no matter how much the experts know about an aspect of life in this universe, there's still much more that remains unknown.   The complete and absolute truth transcends human ability to comprehend it.   As Einstein once said on this topic,  "I now realize that I know nothing."   In this document, this aspect of the truth is referred to as "The Absolute Truth."

.

Evidentiary Truths   /  Fact-based Truths /  The Truest Truths

In the absence of complete knowledge, humans take one of two roads.  One path is to study a topic, develop a hypothesis about what is most likely the truth, then test the theory and adjust it in the light of any new evidence that becomes available.  In this document, the evidence-based aspect of the truth is referred to as "The Truest Truth."

Evidence-based truth is sometimes referred to as "The Real Truth."    This is slightly misleading because it implies that everything else is "not the truth."   For example, partial truths are still true.   They are simply incomplete.   That incompleteness often makes them extremely deceptive.

.

Faith-based Truths:

The second path that humans take in the absence of complete knowledge is to simply declare an unprovable hypothesis to be the "The truth."   These "Declared-To-Be-True Truths" are stories about reality that have no conclusive evidence to support them.   A vast number of very significant, traditional, religious beliefs fall into this category.   God's Conception Magic Act,°  is a classic example of a religious story about reality that is believed by millions even though it has no conclusive evidence to support it and significant evidence to refute it.    In order to believe this type of story, one must take what, in religious terms, is called "a leap of faith."   And, as is abundantly obvious with regard to religion, humans have jumped in several very different directions.

The result,  millions (and in some cases billions) of people believe things that  contradict with the beliefs of millions (or billions) of other people.   For example, billions believe in reincarnation.°   Billions more believe in religious one-life-ism.°   They can't both be correct.   In this document, this aspect of the truth is referred to  as " Faith-based Truths."

. Why Look for the Truth            ...

Why Look for the Truth?

.

The Christian Bible gives us two valid answers:

"Where their is no vision, the people perish, but he that keeps the law, happy [is] he."  Proverbs 29:18

Like many other Biblical passages, there is much room here for interpretation.   The words, "Where there is no vision," can be interpreted as,   When a person blindly follow someone else's ideas and doesn't think for himself, he is living dead, he is dead in his mind.    The phrase "keeps the law" can be interpreted as learns, knows and lives by the truth.

When a person blindly follow someone else's ideas and doesn't think for himself, he is living dead, he is dead in his mind, but when he learns, knows and lives by the truth, he is happy.

Please remember that the above interpretation is just this author's opinion.    Readers are encouraged to examine the original quote and draw their own conclusions.

.

.

"Know the truth and the truth will set you free."  John 8:32

To assist you in having a clearer understanding of what this passage means, you are invited to read a description of the opposite of the truth.°

Where to Find God

Well, at Least, Where to Begin Looking

.

As a prerequisite to reading this section (Where to Find God )  and as a prerequisite to reading the next section below (Looking for a Solid Foundation), readers are directed to the section tiled:  Do you believe in God.°

.

A natural human quest is to seek unity with that invisible Source of Creation we call God.   Most people feel a compulsion to connect with something greater thanthem selves,  BUT,  the big unanswered question  (or perhaps the most over answered question )  is:  "Where in the physical world do we go  to connect with the invisible part of reality that we call "God?"

.

.

If you ask a religious leader, he or she will almost certainly reply, "Come to our church/ synagogue temple/ etc."   But which church/ synagogue/ temple and which version of God will I find there?

.

.

The Evidence, the Christian Bible,*x** and common sense tell us to look into the non physical world.  Why?  1)  Because physical matter is not physical at all; it's energy.   and 2)  Because God appears to be a form of consciousness and consciousness is in the non-physical part of reality.

*x**   1 Corinthians 2:14    "But the natural man perceives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

.

.

The Christian Bible gives us two more answers both of which feel right:

Matthew 6:5-6                                                              Matthew6:5-6          ...

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues [houses of worship] and in the corners of the streets, [and on television] that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.   But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

Luke17:21                                                           Luke 17:21                         ...

“Behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

.

.

Ask this question of any Buddhist monk and he/she will tell you to look within yourself.

.

.

Ask this question of a person who believes in God but doesn't participate in any organized religion and you'll likely here something like::  "Anywhere, everywhere,  and nowhere.   God is in me and in everything else, so I can find God anywhere I am and I don't need to go anywhere because God is in me."

.

.

Here's a quote from Neal Donald Walsh, author of the books, "Conversation with God."   This quote is from a more recent book:  "The New Revelations," Atria Books, New York, NY. 2002, pg. 85.     The author is referring to the behavior of a "true holy man."

"... they will not tell you to follow them, but to follow the God that lives within you.  For it is within your heart and within your soul and in the deepest reaches of your own mind that Divinity resides, and it is there in which it will be found, and only there which it can be fully expressed, and only there from which it can emerge in purity and in truth, and through no other person, place, or thing.

Looking For a Solid Foundation

.

.

Today, millions of people are living  confusing, insecure, and in all too many cases, very painful and miserable  lives   in a very chaotic, rapidly changing world.   Confusion reigns supreme regarding answers to questions such as:  What is  the nature of life?   Where did we came from?    Why we are here?   and   What is our fate after death?

There Isn't Any Solid Foundation:   Our basic human nature, our instinct to survive, compels us to seek a solid foundation in the physical world here on planet Earth.   Unfortunately, there isn't any solid foundation.   Life is, at best, fragile and tenuous.   Death of our bodies awaits us all.

Any Port in a Storm:   In such a world:  What do we do?   Where do we turn for help?    Many people look toward the non-physical world for answers, and, in so doing, they  have turned to those who claim to have answers of life's unanswerable questions.   They have turned to religious leaders because these leaders give the impression that they have the answers.   BUT, do they really have the answers or are they just fellow human also desperately seeking answers?

Many Have Given Up:   Many people have given up trying to make any sense of all this.   They have stopped looking for solutions and are simply looking for a way out -- looking for  an  escape hatch from life.    For many of these people, believing in The Rapture°  is their answer.    This story puts the mind at ease.    It gives the impression that everything is okay, because God is handling things and they'll soon be in heaven and at peace forever more.

Are There Any Other Options    Unfortunately,  blindly placing one's fate in the words of any religious leader,  regardless of which religion he or she is preaching,  is like abandoning the ship simply because a storm is headed their way.   Although our ship appears to be leaking,  all is not yet lost.   Here are a couple of things to consider:

Spaceship Earth is actually a very strong and sturdy ship.   We as humans have been punching holes in the ship for centuries.   If we turned our attention to supporting each other --   if we focused on fixing the holes  --  if we examine our basic beliefs (and the behaviors those beliefs dictate), perhaps all is not lost, after all.

Perhaps we simply haven't yet realized that we live on the bridge between the physical and the non-physical worlds --  that we are eternal beings who regularly jump back and forth between these two worlds --  and what we are experiencing here on Earth is merely one side of a two-(or more)-sided game.

There are very likely, numerous additional answers and much assistance available to us from  from the non-physical side of reality.   Over the centuries, humans have received millions  of answers to millions of questions from something non physical.   We call the source God, and we have made up stories about what God is and isn't and how He/She/It functions, but in reality, we have no idea what it actually is or how it functions.

Faith and Reason     Perhaps if we applied a combination of faith and reason, we could actually turn what appears to be a sinking ship into the Garden of Eden that it used to be before humans started treating spaceship Earth like a disposable diaper.      Perhaps we could apply to our lives  the words of ALL the great masters of life, regardless of what religion humans have made of his or her teachings.   Perhaps we could apply their collective wisdom and their expressions of love to answering present-day problems.   Perhaps we could look at topics where beliefs differ significantly and:   1)   examine the evidence,   2)  seek a consensus about what the evidence indicates is most probably reality,  and  3)  agree to disagree regarding answers to the questions where consensus is clearly missing.

And what about the master teachers who are here today?   How many of us are actually listening to any of them?

The Non-solid, Solid Foundation:   Perhaps we could look for and find the non-physical equivalent of the missing, physical foundation.  Here is just one possibility.   Take it or leave it as you will.

"Physical matter is only a very small part of reality.   Life does not begin at conception, or at birth, or anywhere else,  and life does not end at death.   Humans are not their physical bodies.   Humans are eternal, non-physical, divine beings who temporarily inhabit physical bodies.   From the overall, spiritual perspective, the death of the physical body has about the same significance as taking off a suite of clothes.

God is not a super human being living above the clouds.   God is consciousness -- a Consciousness is so vast and so complex that it transcends human understanding.   Humans are also consciousness.   God consciousness and human consciousness are intimately inter related.   We are, by our nature, spiritual beings.   Our spiritual nature. is a fundamental aspect of everything we are and everything we do.

Earth life is neither a testing ground nor a one-time-only stop on the way to heaven or hell.   It is a way for the non-physical part of us to experience itself in physical form.   Heaven and hell are not physical places; they are states of being.   Original sin is a highly destructive fairytale.  Humans are inherently good.

Everything is   a part of   and intimately related to   everything else.    An 'Intelligent Creator' created everything we know about and everything we still don't know about.   The 'Intelligent Creator' is beyond human knowledge and understanding.   Humans are part of and co-creators with 'God.'    Within the context of life on Earth, we are the creators of our personal experiences."

The above is a reasonable best guess about the nature of reality.   We don't know with provable certainty that this perspective is either true or false.

.

.

So, once again, the evidence tells us that, right here, right now, you have an important decision to make.°

.

.

.

.

Theology Defined
"Theo" comes from the Greek language and means "God."  The suffix "'-ology"  means a branch of learning; a science;  the study of something, such as geology, entomology, theology, etc.    Thus  "theology" means the study of God.

A Major Question:
How can one study the unknown and the unknowable?   How can one study that which transcends human understanding?   The major philosophers throughout the ages, from the ancient days of Aristotle, through Saint Augustine to more modern times of Kant, C. S. Lewis,  and  Joseph Campbell, have said that knowing God is literally impossible.°

The scientific community tells us that everything thought of as physical is not physical at all -- that everything is energy -- that energy is controlled by consciousness -- that what consciousness is, where it is, and how it functions is still a mystery.   Even the Official Roman Catholic Encyclopedia acknowledges that humans do not know what the source of life is or how that source functions.°    And common sense also suggests that (at least at the present time) we simply don't know anything with provable certainty about whatever it is we call God.

The "About God" Problem
This leaves the carved-in-stone-minded, ultra-conservative, Christian leaders with a major problem.   They're not telling their followers anything about God.   They're expressing only their religion's dogma and their own personal beliefs about God.   Even the Christian Bible, in passages such as Ecclesiastes 11:5,° supports the evidence offered by the scientific community and the beliefs of thousands of philosophers, who over the centuries have acknowledged  that humans simply do not and cannot know the works of God.

In any other "-ology,"  in any other science or field of study, the most commonly accepted theories are always based on verifiable evidence.   Everything is held as a theory.   Everything is subject to thorough testing and questioning.   Everything is open for revision or replacement, and everything is a product of what the evidence indicates as most probably the truth.

Circumventing the Evidence
In theology  (theo-ology) the ultra-conservative, Christian leaders have circumvented the problem of contradictory evidence by simply declaring their beliefs (their theories) about God to be facts.   They never permit themselves or their their followers to test those beliefs  against any of the available evidence.   They tell their followers that any evidence which contradicts their theology is simply a ploy of the devil designed to trick them and get them to burn in hell forever.

The Bottom Line
If you follow any religious teachings about God, including those expressed herein, you're following someone else's beliefs.   As an alternative, examine the evidence, not just our websites, but look anywhere and everywhere you can find someone with another point of view.  Test each theory in your own life.   Then with a combination of heart and mind, decide for yourself which theories most probably represent reality and which are simply someone else's story about the reality.

.

.

.

.

A "leap of faith" is a religious term that means to believe something with no proof at all.   If you are talking about “God,” that’s all there is.   Take it or leave it.   There’s nothing else.   Why do we say that?

Because the transcendent unknown that we refer to with words such as "God" is the ultimate and most profound mystery of life.°   It's simply impossible to know with provable certainty anything at all about whatever it is that we call "God."   Even the official Roman Catholic Encyclopedia confirms that God is a mystery.°

Thus, everything said about that transcendent unknown is speculation, guess work, or  pure fantasy.    With absolutely no facts to go on, the  only way to accept any religious belief is by way of "A leap of faith."

Every religion is based upon numerous leaps of faith.   Those who say they  know because their sacred text tells them it's so, have simply moved their primary leap of faith onto a book.    With no proof at all, they declare their book to be God's instruction manual for all human beings.   They also declare their book to be the ONE AND ONLY book God ever wrote or inspired to be written.

How do religious followers determine which of the numerous sacred books is the one and only sacred text?   Most people base their faith upon the sacred book their parents believed in.   And where did their parents get the wisdom to know which book is "the one and only sacred text?"   From their parents who got it from their parents who got it from their parents, and in some cases, the chain goes all the way back to those who believed the Earth was flat.   Most religious true believers have been taught from early childhood to never question either their theology or the religious authority figure who expresses that theology.   As a result these people don't question the logic of this "leap of faith"  determination process nor do they question the antiquated, and often dysfunctional,  belief system it produces.

And the bottom line:   They may be right.   But so may those who believe in the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny.   None of us  knows anything about God with provable certainty.

Everything religious° is based upon one or more leaps of faith --  upon numerous, unprovable assumptions -- upon stories handed down to us for generations -- upon guesses, speculation, wishful thinking --  and upon an inherent need for answers to unanswerable questions.

Here are just a few assumptions / leaps of faith:

Humans are separate from God,

Man is made in the image of God,

(What do you suppose that really means?   Imagine "The
Ultimate Source of All that Is"
  stuck in an insignificant puny,
            human, physical body.  Or
could it mean that man has the attributes, capabilities and the power of a God
°)
Human beings are inherently evil.

My religion is the only true religion.

Our sacred text is the only sacred text.

Our sacred text is the literal word God.

My religion has exclusive access to God.

If I die while murdering those who believe in a
different religion, I'll have a special place in heaven.

God murdered His son to prove He loves me and as
His way of attempting to fix His "
inherently evil"
°  fiasco.

I'm acting on instructions from God, and so whatever I do is OK.

Only Catholics go to heaven.

Only Muslims go to heaven.

Only believers in my religion go to heaven.

Our religious leader is infallible.

Heaven is a place above the clouds.

The Laws of the Universe
  Do Not Make Exceptions.

.

Physics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and every other field of intense study all have laws that dictate a cause and effect relationship.   There are no exceptions.   One law can be used to temporarily countermand another, but the laws themselves still apply.   For example, an airplane in flight utilizes the laws of aerodynamics to temporarily countermand the law of gravity, but the airplane is at all times subject to the law of gravity even when it appears to the unschooled observer to be defying gravity.

This fundamental truth applies everywhere across the board -- in all cultures, --  at all times --  and for all people:

The Laws of the Universe Do Not Make Exceptions.

.

.

On the other hand, human laws and rules are filled with exceptions.    Some examples of where the laws have exceptions can be found  in the land of make-believe.   Classic fairytales such as Alice in Wonderland,  The Wizard of Oz,  Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, and The Tooth Fairy are filled with incidences where the rules are simply suspended by the story's creators.  Feature films and television are adrift in a sea of make-believe.   Religious stories are another area rampant with declarations of reality that simply defy how the universe functions.  Lawmakers commonly pass laws demanding a certain behavior and then declare exceptions for themselves and their "owners."**

**   Politicians in present-day U.S. politics may not be literally owned by someone else, but  all too many of our so-called representatives have sold their votes for personal or political favors.   Literally billions of dollars change hands each year in the unethical, immoral, and often illegal process of influencing legislation.

Playing "make believe" in children's fairytales and in television dramas is one thing, but nobody in his right mind goes out into the physical world, as we know it, and expects Spiderman or Superman to save him from disaster.   Unfortunately, many adults still base their lives on religious fairytales that simply make no sense at all and in so doing, they engage in extremely destructive or dangerous activities.

  Degrees of Separation
and
Reading Between the Lines

.

Degrees of separation:   This  term used in science, in psychology, in statistics, and in other disciplines to describe the way everything is actually connected to and related with everything else.   It's about how things that may seem separate are actually related.   Because the  connections are often separated by intermediary links,  the connections are often unseen by the unschooled and by the casual observer.

Reading Between the Lines:     This is another concept where the listener/observer is also required to be an active participant in order to receive the full  communication.   "Reading between the lines," means that there is information in the written statement that is not stated directly.   The reader/listener is required to bring his/her mind into the process and pull up into consciousness the information that is there but, at the same time, is not openly stated and not obvious to the casual observer.  (See the Examples below.)

.

The "Degrees of separation" concept acknowledges that there are intermediary, often unseen,  links between a starting point and an ending point, between cause and effect, between where you are and where you want to be.   The connections are there, but the connections are often not obvious.   Finding these relationships can be likened to connecting the dots in a child's coloring book and then seeing a picture that was not easily visible prior to connecting the dots.

An Example:  The classic way that this has been demonstrated is to describe the relationship that  human beings have to each other.   If you want to contact another human being, no matter who or where he/she may be, you can do so by contacting  someone you already know and asking them to connect you to someone he/she knows who can connect you to someone he/she knows who can connect you to...   The links continue for about seven steps.   Researches have concluded that there are, on average, seven intermediary steps between you and any other person on the planet.   With the advent of present day technology the number of links required appears to be getting smaller.

Hiding the Truth:  Cause and effect relationships follow this same pattern.   All of life follows this pattern.   All too often, the actual cause of a problem is not what you've been led to believe it is.   Many politicians and religious manipulators are masters at hiding these links and/or putting fake links in the chain to lead the unsuspecting public to a false conclusion.  It's called misinformation or disinformation.   Here's an example you can identify with:

Have You Noticed        ...

The Value in Your Money:  Have You Noticed how the price of the goods and services you buy has changed in relation to the U.S. dollar.   Politicians say the price has gone up.    That's a patently false statement.   The truth is that the value of the dollar has gone down.   This is a rather subtle distinction, but its meanings and implications are phenomenal.  The U.S. dollar is worth less today than it was yesterday so it takes more of them to equal the value of goods and services you buy.   And why has the value of the dollar gone down.   The relationship is straight and simple, basic, supply-and-demand economics.   "If demand stays the same, an increase in supply results in a decrease in value."

Postage Stamp  Example:  Through deficit financing, "Resident" Bush and company have added literally trillions of additional dollars into the economic system.   As a result, you and I are paying more dollars for the same goods and services.   This, for example, is why a three-cent, first-class, U.S. postage stamp from 1940 has been replaced by a forty-one-cent first-class postage stamp in 2007.   The mail delivery services that cost three cents in 1940, cost forty-one cents dollars, today.   Why?   Is the intrinsic value of delivering a letter today significantly different than it was in 1940?   No!   Then why does it take almost fourteen times as many dollars to buy this same service today?   Because the value of the dollar had gone down.

This means that in relation to the 1940 dollar, the 2007 dollar has lost almost all of its value. (92.7% of its former value has disappeared.   7.3% is all that's left in the 2007 dollar.)     The economic ratio may vary slightly, but the same relationship applies to all other goods and service.

As another example, the relative values of a quart of milk and a loaf of bread are still, today nearly the same as they were in sixty years ago.  In 1950, I used to by a quart of milk and a loaf of bread for nineteen cents each.

Where Did the Value of Your Money Go?     So, where has that ninety-tthree percent of the dollar gone?   Einstein told us that physical things don't simply cease to be; they change into energy and/or re-form and appear as something else.   The lost value has been clandestinely transferred into the holdings of the super wealthy.   How is it that the richest one-percent of the people own more wealth than the poorest ninety-percent combined?   What is really behind the Bush and company activities that added more money to the national debt than all other presidents combined, going back all the way to George Washington?   (If you don't already know  how wealth is transferred from the people to the super wealthy, you are invited to read the page titled:  Money -- Is it Demonic or Divine?°)

Here's the bottom line:   You are being lied to and screwed over by those who behind the scenes, own the structures that control the United States government.   When those in power can't steal your money directly, they abscond with it clandestinely by stealing the value out of the money.   And almost nobody notices.   Why?   Because cause and effect are distanced by only one, simple, degree of separation.  It's called "inflation."   Again readers who don't see the connections are invited to read the page titled:  Money -- Is it Demonic or Divine?°)

.

.

Reading Between the Lines:   Take a moment to examine   Genesis 3:22-24 in the Christian Bible°   These passages offer a clear, but rather puzzling and disturbing example of messages that can be found by reading between the lines.

.

.

Another example can be found in the words of Saint Paul in Chapter 13 of First Corinthians.    "I may give all my possessions to the poor and surrender my body to be burned but if I have not love, I gain nothing."   In this statement, the unspoken message that can be deduced by "reading between the lines," is:  The ultimate sacrifice I could make is to sacrifice my life and be burned as a gift to God.   And that would be a good thing only if I have love.

What does this tell us about the mind set (the belief system) of Saint Paul?  In those days, killing animals and burning their bodies as a sacrifice to God was a common practice.  There is no evidence that God desired or required this, but his activity was engaged in under the belief that it appeased the angry fickle superhuman God who lived above the clouds.

Here's a man whose access to the teachings of Jesus was second in connection only the apostles themselves.   He was one of the major contributors to the Christian theology.   And yet, he held a belief that, today, we call archaic and obsolete.   Because his beliefs would almost certainly have been typical of men of his day, what does that say about how the murder of Jesus by the Roman soldiers was interpreted and presented in the Christian Bible?  (See the section titled:  The Crucifixion.°

Would you consider sacrificing yourself or would you kill one of your children, or a goat, or a sheep and burning the body as an appeasement to God?   Perhaps it's time to offer an additional perspective on the Christian crucifixion story.   Also see the section  titled:  The Ultimate Sacrifice.°

Cooperation Versus Competition:

.

Most of us function primarily  in one of two modes.   We may, at times, shift to the opposite pole, but for the most part, we either work together in unity and harmony or against each other in duality and conflict.

Duality - Conflict - Fighting:  In the duality mode, it's us against them.   Football is a good example of this.  It's primarily about fighting, pushing, shoving, knocking the other side down, claiming territory, and scoring points.   If an opponent is injured, that's good, because then he's out of the game, and this increases the other side's chance of winning.  It's a zero-sum game.   In order for one side to win, the other side must lose.

Unity - Harmony - Cooperation:  In the unity mode it's us with them.   An orchestra is a good example of this.   Everyone is  part of a unified team.  All  work toward a common goal.   It's about cooperation, harmony, synchronized rhythm, and mutual support.   Everybody adds to the product produced.   The higher and stronger the quality of each participant's input, the grander the overall result.   In this example, the product is beautiful music, a blessing for all to hear.   The same product can be given to ten people or ten million, and it is not diminished in the slightest by sharing.   It's an infinity-sum game.   The more everyone shares the bigger the product.   Everybody wins.   The success of the Hubble orbiting telescope is another excellent example of the unity and harmony mode of living.     (Ref. 1: The Value of Commerce)°     (Ref. 2: What is Community and Why Is It Important)°

Buckminster Fuller        Buckminster Fuller    ...

Supporting Evidence:   This contention is supported by the renowned scientist, inventor, and futurist, R. Buckminster Fuller:

"Evolution has accelerated into revolution, which if it goes bloody, will render humanity extinct, but if it goes via the design revolution, all humanity will win.   This is a new kind of revolution, it is one that, instead of revengefully pulling down the top fortunate few, will elevate all the heretofore unfortunates and the fortunates alike to new and sustained heights of realized life far superior to those previously tenuously attained by the most privileged few."   (Page 201)

"We have learned in the latest decade from our behavioral science studies that aggression is a secondary behavior of humans --- that when they get what they need, when they need it, and are not overwhelmed, they are spontaneously benevolent; it is only when they become desperate that they become aggressive because what they have relied upon is no longer working."    (Page 67)

(The quotes are from Mr. Fuller's book:  The Critical Path, St. Martin's Press,  New York,  N.Y.,  1981)

A Physical Example:  Perhaps you've noticed that if you put just one log in a fireplace it's difficult to keep it burning and the fire often simply goes out, but when you have three or four logs in there together, they keep each other burning resulting in a hot, roaring fire.

Compare Conflict with Cooperation:

Duality - Conflict - Fighting:

Unity - Harmony - Cooperation:

u   Destroys what already is

u   Builds / Creates new products, services, etc.

u   Creates wars and other forms of physical violence

u   Creates Peace

u   Is completely focused on the physical

u   Focuses on both the spiritual and the physical.

u   Divides

u   Unifies  (Matches the universal law that says that everything is part of a single, unified whole.)

u   Creates losers -- Including those who appear to (temporarily, in the moment) have won.

u   Creates winners -- Everybody wins

u   Attracts more divisiveness,
more anger,
more misery,
more grief,
more fights,
more to fight about
more to feel bad about

u   Attracts more cooperation,
more harmony,
more unity,
more to cooperate about
more to feel good about

Your Job:  Obviously, if you choose to accept the N.V.P. Team's  invitation, you'll be asked to play in the unity mode where everybody wins.   That's not to discount yourself.   You're still number one.   The secret is that everybody else is also a number one.   (And how many number one's are there?   As many as work together in harmony toward the common goal.)

Understanding the Fundamentals

.

Rules of thought and behavior apply to everything humans do, whether it's as simple as picking up a pencil or as complex as running a country.   In this essay, the N.V.P. team will explain the "Rules of the Game Called Life."

In order to win at this game, players need to understand what the game is, what the rules are, and how to apply the rules.   Players need to understand the basic rules of intentionally creating, and they need to understand the specific rules of the specific aspect of the game that they choose to focus on.

Your Job:  If you choose to accept our invitation, your first job is to have or create a clear understanding of the fundamental rules of intentional creating.    Two major points of focus are:   The Three Universal Laws°    and   How to Create a Winning Context?°

.

.

Understanding Overall Game Strategy

.

The principles expressed in this section apply to all games -- to all conflicts -- to all of life.   Here's a functional success strategy, first, described in the traditional "us-against-them" format and then in the "us-with-them" format.

Us Against Them:   The "us-against-them" tactics have six core features:   1)   Applying only a defensive strategy does not solve problems.  2)   Doing more of the same or doing  the same thing harder does not solve problems, either.  3)    The best defense is a good offense.   4)  In order to win, an aggressive attack at the core of the opposition is required.   5)  Study and clearly understand the nature of both the conflict and the opposition.   6) The best and fastest way to win is to find and attack the opposition's weakest point.

Two examples of conflicts in which the losing combatants are violating these rules and failing miserably are the pro-choice side of the forced motherhood (anti-abortion)  war and "Resident" Bush's  so-called war on terrorism.   Both are applying a defensive strategy only.   Both are applying only more of the same and doing the same thing harder.   Neither is taking any significant offensive actions against their opposition.   (Readers need to remember that the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism are two completely different conflicts.)   Neither understands the nature of the conflict nor the mindset of the opposition.   And both are ignoring the oppositions weak points.

Both are little more than futile gesturing,°  apparently being done to give the public the impression that they (the so-called  leaders) are actually doing something.   (There's also the possibility that their goal is to fulfill a hidden agenda.)°   The vast majority of the public has no idea what's really going on.   Most people are simply and mindlessly going along with and accepting, as fact, what their leaders tell them.

Both are dismal failures.    Both are about to experience a major success of their opposition.   In both conflicts it's NOT a question of whether  the opposition will win.   If the present strategies continue, it's only a question of when the opposition will win.   In both cases, the losing strategies are already having a profound global impact.   When the opposition scores a major victory, that destructive impact will be multiplied to a level that no one really wants to even imagine.

A terrorist major success will be obvious and dramatic.   It could cost hundreds of thousands of human lives.   The results of the forced motherhood success will be equally as deadly, but far harder to see.   The death and misery will be hidden, as it already is,° behind one or more degrees of separation°.°

Us With Them:   Now, the "us-with-them" format as applied to the ultra-conservative fundamentalist Christians who talk as if they speak for all Christians.   The N.V.P. team is not physically attacking or intentionally harming anybody in any way.    The team's weapon is to simply speak the truth in the face of any lies and to bring the truth to the public's attention.   The New-Vision Project speaks the truth and, one of our projects is designed to do so in an entertainment format.°

Because the opposition is attempting to use the power of secular law to force their beliefs onto everyone else, the N.V.P. team aggressively challenges the right-wing Christian extremists to prove that their claims are evidence based and not simply made-up, religious  fairytales.   The overwhelming evidence indicates that the ultra-conservative fundamentalist Christian stories are based upon unprovable fairytales.°   In sharp contrast to third, the N.V.P. team's stories reflect what the latest evidence tells us is most probably reality.   The  team speaks the truth (countermanding stories) loudly and frequently.   The goal is to be better at telling true stories than the opposition is at telling deceptive stories.

The N.V.P. team is not fighting anyone or attempting to control anybody or  forcing its beliefs onto anybody.   Even in the face of a well-orchestrated campaign of intentional deception, the N.V.P. team  remains in a joyful, playful state of being.   The N.V.P. team simply applies the Universal Law of Allowing° to those who choose to force their religion onto the rest of us.   The N.V.P. team  exposes the intentional deceptions, the half truths, the lies of omission°  and the hidden agendas°  of those who are bent on increasing their wealth, power and control° at everyone else's expense.   In so doing, the N.V.P. team  applies the underlying essence of all six of the above-listed "us-against-them" tactics.

On a small scale, the  N.V.P. team is being quite effective at accomplishing its goal.   The destructive fairytales presently being peddled as the truth are being seen for what they are.   The Team's vision is to seek, find and speak to larger and larger audiences.

Your Job:  If you choose to accept our invitation, your job is to have or create a clear understanding of the Universal Laws of Allowing and Intentional Creation.°   and then to practice, employ, and incorporate them into your life.

.

.

Some Psychological Factors to Consider:

.

Believing the Stories:   Do you recall this famous quote from Adolph Hitler? --  "If you tell a lie loud enough, long enough, and often enough, people will believe it."  Well, the same thing is true about a religiously inspired fairytales.

Mass consciousness:   People also tend to get caught up in the mass consciousness.   This is most evident in mob behavior where individuals find themselves participating in behavior that, under other circumstances, they would never engage in.

Mass consciousness is also a factor in religion.   For example, have you ever justified you religious beliefs with this statement? --  "Millions of people believe in my religion so it must be true."

Mindlessness:   The Christian religion in the Unites States (and probably also in the rest of the world)  is well known for having mindless followers who never question the truth of their leaders.    They mindlessly accept the stories they're being told.   The very idea that their leaders could be telling them something that is not the absolute truth is outside of their belief system.

Taking Action to Correct a Problem:   Humans have a long and deadly history of seeing disaster coming and ignoring the warnings.   Our so-called leaders will only take action after disaster strikes.   In the present cycle of global transformations, waiting for disaster to happen before taking action is tantamount to mass suicide.   We simply cannot wait.   And if your one of many who have been lulled into silence by the religiously inspired fairytale call The Rapture,° you're in for a painful shock and a rude awakening.

Connection to Nature:   Today in the United States, over half the people live in cities and thus have never had the experiences that would give them first hand knowledge or how intimately humans are connected to nature.   They've also been told by the leaders of Christian religions the false stories that humans  are separate form nature and separate from the infinite source of all which we commonly call God.

Concentrations of Power:   At this point in human evolution, the vast majority of  humans are not capable of handling power.   Time after time, humans have demonstrated their inability to handle power.   Lord Acton said it succinctly in 1887 :   "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."   That statement is as true today as it was in 1887, and there's no evidence  that it's about to change.  Thus it's imperative for a free society to prohibit concentrations of power, be they  government, business, church, or any other social structure or an individual.

In our society, controlling large amounts of money is a concentration of power.   You might also note that by outlawing certain drugs we made the most vile and corruptible people on the planet the wealthiest people on the planet.   That's definitely not to say wealthy people are corrupt, but those who are bringing in billion of secret dollars every year from controlling the semi-secret illegal drug industry are absolutely corrupt.  Secret money corrupts absolutely.

Caught in their Own Trap:   Another disturbing fact about the human mind is that after a while the tellers of lies and the tellers of religious fairytales begin to believe his own stories.   When the human mind is repeatedly assaulted by a lie or a fairytale, it eventually simply stops challenging the story.   The mind shuts down.   It simply accepts the story as it were real.

And criminologists have repeatedly told us that the same thing is true about those who commit heinous crimes.   The mind makes up and eventually believes a false story which makes the criminal's behavior look good in their own eyes.

Stretching the Truth:   Humans have a natural ingrained propensity to exaggerate.   When one examines art, literature, theater, from the present day all the way back to the Greeks and when one looks at  today's, videos, films and the like, one finds a huge amount of exaggeration and embellishment beyond what reality shows us.   The traditional heroes, such as Superman, Batman, Tarzan, Wonder Woman, are all beyond the ordinary.   John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, didn't become famous by playing guy next door.

The current batch or heroes and film characters are also beyond the extraordinary.   Spider man,  Harry Poter, and Jim Car's film characters aren't replicas of you or me.    Look at the artistic renditions of human and animal forms.   Very few of them represents the ordinary and the common.   Body parts are exaggerated to draw attention to certain attributes.

Given the psychological propensity to exaggerate, do you suppose it's possible that the stories about religious heroes may be just a tinny bit beyond reality.   For example, was the story of the virgin birth of Jesus a reality or a literary embellishment to denote special ness.   Virgin births are not confined to Christianity.    Here are a few others who came to the world via so-called virgin births:   Buddha, Horus, Hermes, Prometheus, Indra, Zoroaster, Alexander the Great, and the list goes on.  (For more on this, see the Religious Tolerance Website° which we graciously acknowledge as the source of the above list.)

Then there's Biblical evidence denoting that  Jesus as "...made of the seed of David..."  (Romans 1:1-3 says:   "I Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle and separated onto the gospel of God...concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh." )

The apostle, Paul denotes Jesus as "...made of the seed of David..."     The Gospel of Matthew connects David's lineage to Joseph, thus, if the Bible is literally correct, then Jesus had two fathers.   But, perhaps that's a good thing because that makes Him even more special.
