Another Look into the Christian Bible

Adding an Ignored Perspective

The Christian fundamentalists who choose to interpret their Bible literally are actually practicing selective literalism.   They claim the passages that support their beliefs to be the literal truth and then completely ignore others that conflict with their agenda.  

Here's an example:   Although it's not stated anywhere in the Bible, the fundamentalist claim that life begins at conception.   Then they conveniently ignore Genisis 2:7 which clearly contradicts their declaration: 

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

On one side we have God and the Christian Bible telling us that an independent human life begins with the first breath.   On the other side we have an unsupported, plucked-from-air declaration about God's instantaneous, supernatural, transcendental magic act.
